This three-part series on Managing Bank Financial Performance is intended for those who may be exploring bank financial statements and concepts for the first time or would like a refresher in advance of the live sessions. Terms, metrics, and concepts presented are consistent with the curriculum of the live session and may provide students the “head start” they desire. Each of the webinars can be viewed on its own to explore the themes within - the materials are developed to stand alone for targeted review. This optional, three-part webinar is designed for those first-year students needing a brief review of corporate finance. Dr. Macy will steer students through the analysis and strategies of core financial management principles and concepts as well as mathematical techniques. Although topics covered will aid you in most of your first year courses, this webinar is specifically designed as a preparatory review for the first year core course "Financial Tools for Bankers".
In this module, we discuss the fundamental concepts of time value of money with particular attention to the valuation of bonds and stocks. We extend these ideas into the creation of the discount rate.
Module 3: Capital Budgeting & NPV: Valuing a Project In this module, we extend our analysis of valuation techniques to capital budgeting projects. We assess the nuances that impact the valuation of the project and therefore, of the firm.
Module 1: We define and explore the most foundational concepts in the context of a business that we run. Beginning with the inception of a business, we construct a balance sheet and update that balance sheet to reflect events in our business. Next, we create an income statement and detail the specifics of one accounting period.
